How this site works

Editorial standards and corrections

I write from firsthand experience, show the numbers behind my decisions, and separate what happened to me from what may apply to someone else.

Experience comes first

My essays begin with decisions I made, money I spent, systems I used, or results I observed. I do not invent experiences, outcomes, credentials, or conversations. Personal experience is evidence of what happened to me, not a promise that the same choice will work for everyone.

Facts and sources

I prefer primary sources for card terms, tax limits, product benefits, financial rules, and policies. When a fact can change, the essay shows when it was checked. Each outside source is a small number in the text, listed by name at the end of the essay. Readers should confirm current terms before acting because a dated source is a snapshot, not a guarantee that the information is unchanged.

Valuations and comparisons

An advertised value is not automatically a personal value. In a comparison, I state the assumptions, exclusions, fees, point values, and spending limits that affect the result. I value a benefit by what it replaces in my real spending, not simply by the maximum printed by a company.

Referral and affiliate relationships

Some essays may contain referral or affiliate links. If a reader uses one, I may receive a bonus or compensation at no additional cost to the reader. Those relationships do not determine which products I cover, how I calculate value, or the conclusion I reach. Essays containing these links identify them clearly.

Corrections and updates

I update an essay when a material fact, calculation, or conclusion changes. The page then shows an updated date. If an earlier statement was materially wrong, the correction is described on the essay instead of being silently erased. Minor spelling or formatting fixes do not receive a new date.

AI assistance

The ideas, experience, and conclusions are mine. I write the first draft and review the final version. AI helps me research, reorganize, rewrite, and polish for clarity, but I remain responsible for what is published.

Report a problem

If something appears wrong or out of date, please message me on LinkedIn or X. Include the essay and the claim so I can review the source and calculation.
