This site is written and run by Aayush Goenka, who is responsible for the data described here. It has no advertising or third-party analytics, and personal data is not sold. Nothing here needs an account, and the newsletter is optional. For any question or request, send an email. Messages are used only to respond.

Analytics

This site uses its own cookieless analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site is used. It records pages and referring sources; coarse location, device, browser, language, and connection categories; reading activity and controls used; and site searches, tool inputs, and Google search terms as entered. The expense tracker records only which controls are used, never what you type. For outbound links, only the destination site is recorded.

Your IP address and browser information are used briefly to derive these categories and a visitor hash that changes each day. The raw IP address and user-agent string are then discarded. Without consent, visits cannot be linked across days. Analytics do not request a name, email address, or account and are not joined to the mailing list.

If you consent, a random token lets the site count return visits. You can withdraw that consent below. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics are not collected.

If you subscribe on this site, your email address, optional first name, and signup source are sent to Kit, the mailing-list provider. Kit sends a confirmation email before subscribing you. Analytics record the signup stage, not what you type.

Substack subscribers are also copied into the Kit list so the newsletter is sent from one place. Your address is used to send new writing and related updates, and your first name only for greetings. Kit records email opens and link clicks. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and leaving either list removes you from the shared newsletter audience.

Stored in your browser

The site stores your analytics choice, selected theme, reading position, recent searches, and temporary interface state in your browser. These make the site remember your preferences. Only an accepted consent token is sent to analytics; the other stored settings stay on your device and are never sent to the server. None is required to read the site.

Who processes it

Kit handles subscriptions and email, Substack handles subscriptions made there, and the hosting provider processes requests needed to deliver and protect the site. If you choose Open in Google Sheets on the expense tracker, Google signs you in and the file goes straight from your browser to your Google Drive; this site never receives your account or the file. These providers may process data in the United States. No advertising or analytics vendor receives your data.

Legal basis

Cookieless analytics rely on the legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site. The return-visit token and newsletter rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

How long it is kept

Analytics records are kept indefinitely without raw IP addresses or identifiers that persist across days. Data tied to the return-visit token is kept while your consent stands. Newsletter records are kept while you are subscribed, with an opt-out record retained as needed to honor your unsubscribe request.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, or object to its use, by email. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data-protection authority. Because analytics do not retain an identifier that persists across days, a specific person's records usually cannot be found on request.

Withdrawing consent deletes the token from this browser and removes your identifier from the server, leaving only anonymous counts. Excluding this browser stops all analytics here until you reverse it or clear this site's data.
